So who am I? A magical Internet gnome? Maybe a freelance superhero? Actually I am a bit of both. As you might have guessed, my name is Randy Folks. I am many things to many people, but for the purpose of this website I am a graphic designer.

From 1999 through 2005, I had a business on “the side” providing website development, email, hosting and graphic design to the public. I found however, that doing so many things at once proved to be a bit overwhelming not to mention unproductive. In attempting to provide a “one stop shopping experience” for my customers, the joy I derived from designing had disappeared. This was unfortunate considering my love for the field was what sparked the whole venture in the first place. So, I chucked it. Yep, got rid of it all. I took care of all my loose ends and shut the door on the cold, evil beast that had interrupted my flow of happiness.

I have chosen instead, to concentrate on what I enjoy the most, graphic design. I have learned to use many tools of the trade to help me bring ideas to life. My favorite tools are Macromedia Fireworks and Dreamweaver. Whereas I will never consider myself a “master” using any tool (a term that denotes there is no room left to learn), I am quite sufficient with them. I also pick up on ideas clients share with me easily, which I guess makes me rather insightful.

With every passing year, I learn more about the craft that I enjoy. I learn much from my clients as well. Their thoughts and ideas are many times quite interesting and original which is refreshing in a world full of me-too products.
